BAUR GmbH in Sulz has double reason to celebrate this year: The globally active provider of testing and measurement technology for power distribution networks is marking its 80th anniversary, and BAUR is also among Austria’s Leading Companies (ALC) 2025. BAUR took first place in the category of small and medium enterprises in Vorarlberg and received the award at a ceremony in Bregenz in October. The ALC Award is presented annually by PricewaterhouseCoopers Austria, the Credit Protection Association of 1870, and the daily newspaper “Die Presse” to the most successful companies in Austria by federal state.
The ALC jury determines the winners based on the balance sheet figures from the last three financial years. For BAUR, these figures clearly pointed in one direction: upward. With financial success came an increased need for space for the growing workforce. BAUR therefore purchased a property neighbouring its Sulz headquarters, which is now used by the product management, sales, and marketing departments.
Growth also characterizes BAUR’s activities abroad. The export-strong company is present in many regions of the world with its own companies, offices, or through sales partnerships - and since last year also with a sales and service office in Florida (USA). BAUR’s customers can now be found in about 100 nations, and the company continues to expand.
In energy supply and distribution, BAUR’s testing and measurement technology is well known. The range extends from portable cable fault location devices to testing and diagnostic equipment for distribution networks, all the way to modern cable test vans. In addition, BAUR offers software and testing devices for the analysis of transformer oil. “Our technology helps to increase supply security, prevent power outages, and use power grids more efficiently. In this way, we make an important contribution to the energy transition,” says Managing Director Markus Baur. “Furthermore, through the BAUR Global Academy and our diagnostics competence centre, we impart valuable knowledge that enables power grid operators worldwide to operate their infrastructure more sustainably and economically.”
